Filippos’ Christening at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, London

Filippos’s christening was one of those relaxed family celebrations where everyone seemed genuinely happy to be together. There was plenty of time before and after the ceremony for people to chat, catch up and enjoy the day, which always helps create natural photographs.

I particularly enjoyed photographing all the interactions between the children. While the adults were talking, the younger guests were busy exploring, playing and keeping everyone entertained. These little moments often become some of my favourite images from a christening because they capture the atmosphere of the day so well.

The ceremony itself was full of familiar faces and warm smiles. Family members travelled to be there and it was clear how much the day meant to everyone. Rather than focusing only on the formal parts of the christening, I like to document everything happening around them too – the conversations, the hugs and the reactions that tell the full story of the day.

After the service, everyone gathered to celebrate together. It was a lovely chance for family photographs, but also for those more relaxed images that happen in between. Grandparents spending time with grandchildren, parents taking a quiet moment with their little one, and friends enjoying each other’s company all helped make the day feel special.

Thank you to Filippos’s family for having me there to photograph such an important occasion. It was a pleasure to spend the day with them and capture these memories as they unfolded naturally.
